How-To: iCal Running Slow? Clean Your Database.
Has iCal started appearing sluggish when you move from day to day, or when opening events? Then it may be time to do some house-cleaning of the iCal database.
iCal Dupe Deleter developed by John Maisey can help clean things up and get iCal moving again. iCal Dupe Deleter is an application that will check your various calendars for duplicate events and todos, allowing them to be deleted, optimizing the database.
Download the application from the John’s website. When you run the application, it searches and opens a list of all calendars in your iCal database.
Highlight the calendar name and click on Test selected calendar, the program will analyze the calendar and return with the number of any duplicates that are found.
If there are duplicates, delete them by clicking De-dupe this calendar.
When completed, you will have to restore from a fixed backup.
Choose Restore when prompted to restore from backup - fixed.icbu
